Just a few months after its successful partnership with the prestigious Wimbledon tennis tournament – where it is the official coffee – Lavazza is back with another partnership at another major sporting event, this time golf, a sport that is currently experiencing a real boom in Italy, with more than 100,000 players.
Lavazza is major sponsor of the 70th Open d’Italia Lindt. The tournament is the largest international showcase for golf in Italy, and is also the Italian leg of the prestigious European Tour.
The Open will be held from 19 to 22 September 2013 in Turin, at Circolo Golf Torino La Mandria. The course is one of the best in Italy, and has produced great talents including the brothers Edoardo and Francesco Molinari.
Lavazza will be attending the Open d’Italia as major sponsor and official supplier, with coffee stands located around the course at the golf club.
The retail village will include a café serving a wide assortment of beverages from the classic espresso through to more creative recipes like the Lavazza Cappuccino Open 2013, a special drink designed exclusively for this event. The Lavazza Village has an original design, in the shape of a huge golf ball, close to the 12th hole. It is a welcoming area where the golf enthusiasts watching the players from the side of the course can enjoy a relaxing break. At the Lavazza Lounge in the hospitality village, there will be press encounters and meetings with the stars of the tournament.
The sponsorship reflects the values of sportsmanship, excellence and tradition, shared by Lavazza and the Open d’Italia, and also highlights the desire to offer the public the ultimate experience of typical Italian hospitality of which Lavazza coffee is an international icon.
