Joining the UN Global Compact and Global Goals

Sustainability is based on a continuous evolution and awareness of one’s own limits, strengths and priorities for action. Listening to and engaging with stakeholders are key elements in building a path that creates shared value along the whole supply chain. With this awareness, Lavazza has welcomed the global-scale principles of sustainability established by the United Nations.

Lavazza and the UN Global Compact

There are many teenagers in Calcutta who live in slums, unhealthy urban districts, that lack the most basic sanitation and sanitary facilities. Lavazza and Save the Children have committed themselves to creating opportunities for the most marginalised adolescents from degraded areas, saving them from conditions of abuse and exploitation, with the aim of introducing them into the world of employment in a sustainable way. The project has allowed us to reach more than 101 vulnerable adolescents and provide 240 hours of training and subsequent follow-up employment support.

Lavazza and the Sustainable Development Goals

Lavazza is committed to pursuing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable innovation, the fight against climate change and the commitment to responsible production and consumption give life to a virtuous circle: they not only benefit the environment and society as a whole, but they also improve production cycle efficiency, reduce waste, curb anti-economic processes, all while benefitting companies’ margins.

For Lavazza, these principles are non-negotiable: not only because our product derives from the transformation of raw, plant-origin materials, potentially threatened by the phenomenon of climate change, but above all because the global responsibilities that the Goals give rise to outweigh the mere economic interests, leading the way to a more ethical and sustainable world.
